April Reflection

Doing good should be something that we automatically do as a Christian.  It should be an involuntary act and not something that we should be ashamed of doing.  We are not trying to impress others that what we are doing is something exemplary.  From the perspective of faith, we do something good to give witness to our faith in Jesus Christ, who first and foremost showed us the example by His dying on the cross for our salvation.

"I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (Jn. 8:12).  God is the true light.  All of us are just partaking and sharing in that light when we do our part in raising the banner of our faith, so that others might be able to see it and so imitate us.

As the saying goes, "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery."  What better way is it for a Christian to be flattered than when others imitate our good works.  This in turn causes the light of Christ to shine more brightly on the entire human race.

Reflection About Our Lady

Our Lady saves us, gives us life and enriches us with God.  With the Holy Spirit she repeats to us: "He who finds me, finds life, and will have salvation from the Lord (Pr 8:35).  Again: "With me are riches and glory... that I may enrich them that love me" ( Pr 8:18, 21).  It was not without reason that Pope Saint Pius X proposed devotion to Our Lady as a primary means to restore all things to Christ in the Church and in the world.

Let us then remember to always love Our Lady.  Let us make as our own, the last recommendation of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina:  "Love Our Lady and bring others to love her.  Always recite the Rosary."  Let us love Our Lady without ever saying we have loved her enough; rather, let us promote a holy rivalry in order to be the generation giving the most glory to Mary (cf. Lk 1:48).

Easter Reflection

Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, you have broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light; grant that we who have been raised with Him may triumph over all temptation and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory:  through Him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.  Amen.
