Daily Meditation

Starting Over:

Perhaps this is the most urgent kind on conversion for some of us; to stop leveraging our past experiences; our charisms, and our service to a group or to the whole charismatic renewal movement and to start over at the beginning with God alone as our treasure.

Quote by S. Padre Pio:

I ask you now to put aside your pessimistic judgement... May the Lord continue to use mercy toward you all and grant you the grace of holy perseverance.

Divine Mercy Reflection

Reflections on Notebook One: 11-111

This first notebook of Saint Faustina begins her private revelations given from the Heart of Jesus to her. She writes in a beautiful and simple way. Though, as mentioned in the introduction to this book, her actual words are not quoted in these reflections that follow, the messages that she received and articulated are presented.

In truth, her messages are those contained in Sacred Scripture and in the Tradition of our Church. And if you were to read through the lives and teachings of the saints, you would find the same revelations. God has always spoken to us throughout the ages. He speaks the one Message of Truth, and He reveals that Message in love. The revelations to Saint Faustina are one new way that God continues to speak and reveal Himself to us, His sons and daughters.

The reflections in this first chapter, based on the first notebook, are intentionally short and focused. They are a way for you, the reader, to slowly and carefully listen to the Heart of God spoken to this great saint. Read these reflections slowly and prayerfully. Ponder them throughout the day and allow the Lord to speak to You the message He wants to give.

Reflection 89: The Power of a Generous Love

There are so many souls who are in need of our prayers and are in need of the Mercy of God. These are those souls who are stuck firm in their sin. We may pray for them but it seems to have little effect. What more can we do? Sometimes, the greatest intercession we can make is a heart filled with the most generous love. We must strive diligently to have the most pure and relentless love for these souls. God will see this love and will turn His gaze of love upon them as a result of the love He sees in our hearts (See Diary #383).

Who is that person in such need of the Mercy of God? Is there a family member, a coworker, a neighbor or friend who appears to remain obstinate toward God and His Mercy? Commit yourself to the most generous love you can offer that person and give it to God as your intercession. Allow God to gaze upon this person through your love.

Lord, so often I fail to love as You desire me to love. I am selfish and judgmental toward others. Soften my heart and then place in my heart the most generous love I have ever felt. Help me to turn that love to those in most need of Your Divine Mercy. Jesus, I trust in You.
